Fender MIJ Trad 70s Tele Custom, made in Japan 2020, black on black. I’m a fan of the Tele Custom as a genre, I reckon they’re both cool and underrated. This is the latest version of the model out of Japan, so it’s got a chunky U-shape neck and the new version of the pickups. It sounds big: the neck pickup is girthy and fat with a satisfying dark punch, while the bridge pickup is angular and bright and full of classic Tele twang. You guessed it: the middle position is the biz, it sounds great. This one is in pretty crisp shape and still has the factory plastic coating on the guard. Just imagine how good it’s gonna feel to peel that off and play your best Rolling Stones tunes.
