Iconic vintage Japanese Gretsch Country Classic II – the name given to the ‘Country Gentleman’ model when Chet Atkins left the company to work with Gibson. It’s a model also related to George Harrison from the Beatles, and one that is suitable for a range of styles – from jazz to blues or rockabilly, and for both for rhythm and lead.
It’s in lovely condition for a 33 year old guitar with minor surface blemishes on close inspection. There’s a small patch of lacquer clouding on the headstock, and a small hairline just in the lacquer from the nut on one side – this has been checked under UV-lighting and it’s not a neck break or repair. The frets are in very good condition for age with just some minor wear.
The classic spec includes a laminated Maple body, Maple neck with a comfortable slim profile, and a premium Ebony Fingerboard with 12” radius. There’s also gold hardware throughout, sealed Gretsch tuners, a Bigbsy trem and a pair of filterTron humbuckers for classic Gretsch tone. In addition, it’s also had a couple of modifications to give a closer look to a vintage 60’s Country Gent, including dampen switches and an additional switch near the Bigsby – both of which are purely cosmetic and are not operational. It’s a great looking guitar.
It comes complete with its original paperwork and case to keep this vintage beauty protected.
