Gibson SG special 2001 Limited Edition Metallic Silver

$ 1650.00

This is a really killer Gibson SG Special Limited Edition in Metallic Silver finish. This is a very rare model and the last of the big-neck SG special run series models (1994-2002) that have become so desirable. The earlier ones were mostly black finish or sometimes natural mahogany and Gibson made a few in special color finishes towards the end of the run. This is one of those! I believe these were called “millennium edition model” or something like that. Gibson may also have used the word “pewter” to describe the finish. All of these SG special guitars had the wide ‘68 SG style pickguard with no covers on the humbuckers
The body and neck are both mahogany and the neck joint heel is the super long style like a ‘68 SG would have. Very solid and stable with excellent sustain and resonance. The neck profile is noticeable large and thick. The body and neck are in very nice condition. There are a few dings along the edges-see photos. Overall very nice shape. The metallic silver shimmers brilliantly and the mahogany wood grain texture is nicely and evenly visible-as Gibson did not use a thick grain-filler on these guitars. The top tip of the backside of the headstock has a cosmetic ding but nothing structural-see photos. The guitar stays in tune and plays fabulous. It has an aggressive tone with that particular SG special ‘drive’ that these guitars are well known for (1994-2002).
It has a very light weight (7.19 lbs!) so it is super comfortable and feels excellent on a strap or in your lap.
This is a very rare special edition that I have only seen one other example of. It’s already 21 years old-so I feel completely comfortable referring to it as a classic.
Comes complete with non-original but original-looking ‘gator’ brand brown hardcase with pink interior
I have taken several photos to show how it looks in different lighting.
