You probably haven’t seen this one folks. It is from 2016 and is a Gibson Pete Townshend Les Paul Reissue of this 1976 modified Deluxe Gold top. You haven’t seen it because Gibson only made 150 of them back in 2016. When Gibson prototypes a run even those runs tend to be 500 so a run of only 150 means that no one had these when they were first put out.
Les Paul Artist Series produced in 2016 limited to 150 pieces worldwide –Pete Townshend Deluxe Gold Top 1976. This model is a reproduction of the “Les Paul Deluxe” used by Pete Townshend until 1976, and has a distinctive look that reproduces the modified specifications with the “DiMarzio Super Distortion” placed in the center.
Body: Maple Top / Mahogany Pancake – weighs just under 10 pounds just like a 70’s Deluxe would.
Neck: Mahogany 3pcs
Pickup: Original Mini Humbuckers & ”DiMarzio Super Distortion
Control: 3volume, 1tone, 3way, 3way with additonal mini toggle
Other touches like the kidney been chrome Gibson Deluxe tuners, Neck Volute, Chrome screw on strap locks, all as they were on Pete’s Deluxe.
I will consider reasonable trade proposals. This is a very hard guitar to source. This is in mint and unplayed condition with plastic still on the pickguard.
The mahogany neck has a traditional slim carve, not too slim, just the right amount of heft.
