is a wonderful playing and sounding Gibson Flying V. Serial # dates it
1974 or 1975 (pots date it to 75) in astounding condition. All
electronics are original and
untouched. Tuners were once changed to Schallers but now replaced back
with period correct newer Gibson Klusons
on it now. A little staining by the tuner holes is the worst of the
guitar. Everything else on the guitar is extremely clean. There is NO
REPAIRS or modifications and hardly a scratch. I believe the frets to be
original but they may have been replaced because there is very little
wear to them.
This V plays like
a Les Paul. It’s hard to explain, but it feels very solid and has
incredible tone! The neck is nice and thick- super comfortable and really
drives the body. The pickups are original and the best I have ever heard
on a 70’s V and I’ve owned 9. Super tight, yet slightly open
sounding. A pleasure to play and hear. Pickguard and cover have
aged nicely giving this guitar a great vintage cream patina.
In 1975 Gibson added a
“keyway joint” to strengthen the body joint. This is an interlocking piece of wood inserted in
between the two wings of the V. This V is solid and has great sustain.
If you want a highly collectible
flying V look no further. This guitar is a tone machine. Comes with the
original Gibson hard-shell V shaped case in decent condition.
