I offer here a 2010 ESP Truckster James Hetfield, the limited black satin signature model of the Metallica frontman from the Japanese fine guitar forge ESP with lightweight mahogany body (3.6kg total weight), thin maple top, set mahogany neck with slim “Thin U” neck profile, bound rosewood fingerboard with classic flag-shaped mother-of-pearl inlays, a pressing set of active EMG 81/60 pickups as well as Sperzel locking tuners in the radiant distressed black satin finish in mint condition incl. original ESP hardshell case and CoA.
This ESP Truckster is the limited edition (distressed) black satin version released in collaboration with James Hetfield as ESP’s signature model from 2009 (in addition to the aged primer grey finish which started in 2005). As you would expect from ESP, this beast, hand-forged in Japan, combines all the high-end specs that hard rock/metal guitarists can only dream of: an extremely light-resonant solid mahogany body with a maple top provide a solid tone with that extra attack and bite, the single-piece mahogany neck in a set-neck construction provides ideal tone transfer with long sustain and ultra-fat tone, and the infamous EMG 81/60 set allows for the full range of Metallica tone options when amped – from “One” clean to “Enter Sandman” riff distortion to “Master of Puppets” solo 1-lead, the guitar is a sublime-sounding all-rounder!
A small sound sample of the model can be found above.
The attention to detail on this guitar is heartwarming: high-quality Sperzel locking tuners offer incredible tuning stability, beautiful flag-shaped inlays of mother-of-pearl are inlaid into the rosewood fingerboard bound with white bindings, and the high-quality chrome hardware has been given a shimmering matte satin look.
Playability-wise, the narrow “Thin U”-shaped mahogany neck combined with the 42mm wide bone nut and very low action make for lightning-fast playability with a super comfortable feel.
But the crème de la crème of this guitar – no doubt – is its looks: the intricately crafted, artificially aged distressed black satin finish immediately catches the eye with its multitude of marks and signs of wear, authentically conveying the impression of a lovingly shredded guitar on the road.
In short, an outstandingly crafted signature model that combines perfection in aesthetics, playability and sound, and with which not only Metallica fans will get their money’s worth!

This ESP Truckster Black Satin is no longer made like this, but is still extremely popular today:
This guitar is in excellent, extremely well maintained condition and technically sound. Visually, practically nothing has added to the artificial aging (I couldn’t find anything – see pictures). The electronics work great and the frets are very good.
Before parting I will set the guitar with new strings (I am a longtime guitar teacher) and – if desired – ship insured with DHL for 39.99€ within Germany or 95.99€ within the EU.
Please see all photos & clarify questions before buying. Thanks! 🙂
