Collings D1 VN with a Baked/ Torrefied Sitka top, VN neck carve

$ 3595.00

A highly resonate Collings D1 (mahogany back and sides) with some upgrades: popular VN neck carve (1 3/4 nut) and a baked or torrefied Sitka top.   Only a few hours play on this one.   Excellent to near mint condition.   Only played in my smoke free home.   No dings or scratches other than on the pick guard form light fingerstyle play.  Cleaning swirls show in the right light.

I am the original owner.  The guitar setup has not been modified from the factory set up in any way.  An ebony strap button has been professionally installed.

 Its everything you would expect from a Collings D1, with the added features of the baked top.  The baked top adds to its resonance and mature, woody sound. It has loads of volume and a colorful tone even with light finger style play.  It is joyfully loud when flat picked.  If you have a preference for the mahogany spruce combination, you should be very pleased with this one!

The Vintage Now neck is a slightly different neck carve from the typical modified V.  Per Collings website, “Vintage Now” which has slightly wider spacing at the saddle (2 5/16″) with 1 3/4″ at the nut. This neck is slightly larger than our standard (non-vintage) profile…This neck has more of a vintage feel, but is more palatable than our standard Vintage neck to a lot of players. The neck shape is slightly rounder (less V) in the lower position and moves towards a modified V shape as you go up the neck. The neck depth (including the fingerboard) is typically .845″ at the 1st fret and .960″ at the 9th fret. The fingerboard width measures 2.125″ at the 9th fret.”   The differences in the VN are not really noticeable to me.

Shipping fees are for the 48 contiguous states.  I prefer not to ship it to other locations.   The guitar will be shipped in its original factory case (also in near mint condition).  It will be very well packed and shipped insured with signature required.   I don’t accept returns.

Reasonable offers are welcome and will be considered.   Happy to do my best to answer any questions.
